About Us

When the previous headteacher left we were approached to see whether we would be prepared to take over Freda Gardham for the year while still running our other school in Hastings. This was an opportunity that excited us and one that we jumped at.

We have worked as a management team for the past four years and have very clear ideas about how an effective school should be run.

Our underlying principal is that children only get one chance so we have to make sure it is the best possible one. We are clear that all children have a right to learn and teachers have a right to teach. Poor behaviour of some children will not be allowed to impact upon this and our expectations will be made clear. Our new behaviour policy relies heavily on choices, personal responsibilities and consequences for actions.

Unlike some schools we operate an open door policy and try to be as available as possible. We are happy to listen to concerns and will do our best to deal with any issues immediately. If our door is open then come on in!

It has become apparent that over the next year we need to work hard at getting the children to feel positive about themselves and engaged in their learning. The new build has begun and the headteacher has been appointed so this is a very positive time for the whole community and one we are excited about being part of.
