Dear Parents and Carers

At the beginning of the new school year I am delighted to have this opportunity to say 'Hello' to you all and wish you and your children a happy and successful term ahead.

Since our return, the staff and I have been working on and updating the school's behaviour policy, and also developing further whole school approaches to the social and emotional aspects of learning. I will be writing to you again shortly with more detailed information about these areas, and how you can support our initiatives at home.

In the meanwhile I hope to meet as many of you as possible at our Harvest Festival or Early Years Workshop later in the month.

Mrs S Freeman
Headteacher

Thank you
Mrs Kopusto has asked us to pass on her thanks to you all, adults and children, for the gifts and best wishes that she received when she left in July.

Safety
We are once again reminding you all that parking, dropping off children, or picking up children is not permitted in the school lay-by. The lay-by is for school buses only, and puts children in danger if cars are parked there.

Attendance
We are pleased to announce that attendance was at it’s highest for several years during the academic year 2004 / 2005 at 94.6%, and above the national average of 94.5%, so well done to everyone!!

May we remind you all that if your child is unwell, or unable to attend school for any reason, it is your responsibility to telephone the school before 9.30a.m. each day that your child is absent. If we do not hear from you, the office will endeavour to contact you. This is to ensure your child has arrived at school safely.

Cross Country

On Thursday 12th October we are hosting a Cross Country Race against local primary schools for teams from Years 5 & 6. Lunchtime Cross Country Club will be starting again soon, when teams will be selected.

Tesco Sports Vouchers
We are currently collecting Tesco Sports Vouchers. Please collect them and send into school with your child. If you have relatives, friends or neighbours who also shop at Tesco, maybe you could collect theirs as well. Thank you.

Congratulations

We would like to congratulate last years Opal and Ruby classes for achieving such a high standard in the Rye in Bloom competition and for being awarded with a plaque for the school. Also many thanks to their teachers, Mrs Edwards, Mrs Turner, Mrs Eldridge and Mrs Annetts for their hard work, commitment and support for this.

Adult Volunteers Community Tea Party

This was our second event to say thank you from our school for all the hard work and support these wonderful people have given the children and the teachers. It was lovely to hear these people say what a lovely school we are and what a delight it is for them to come in and work with our well mannered children.

So thank you adults.

If you know anyone who would like to help in the classrooms with art, reading or playing board games with the children, please contact Mrs N Turner.

Book Fair
Thank you for supporting the last Book Fair. We sold nearly £600 worth of books giving us £120 worth of free books for our Library.

Library Books
Please could you check your children’s bookshelves at home and see if any of our reading books are there. Many books are missing from our Library. If you do find any, please send them in a carrier bag to Mrs Turner.

The Library

We desperately need help for classifying, covering and cataloguing our new books. If you or anyone you know has an afternoon or whole day to spare, please could you let Mrs Turner know by leaving your telephone number with our school secretary, so that Mrs Turner can ring you at her convenience.
Thank you.
