Concrete Piling.

1/ The pilings are driven many metres into the ground, then...

2/ they are broken off and packed around with concrete, then...

3/ the hole is incased in shuttering, reinforcing is put in place, plus an iron plate. finally the hole is filled with concrete

4/ When the concrete is set, the iron girder is dropped into place  by the crane and bolted down
