As part of our RE and History curriculum work on Celebrations and Memories, the children in Diamond and Sapphire Classes went for a walk to look at the War Memorial in Rye. We were trying to find out why people wear poppies at this time of the year. We discovered that people wear poppies to help them remember people who died in wars.

On the War Memorial we saw the names of some people who had died. Some of the surnames on the memorial are the same as some of ours. We wondered if the people who had died were part of our families.
