Autumn Newsletter

Dear Parents
We’ve had a really busy start to the academic year, and our new children have settled into life at Freda Gardham School brilliantly. The first Pupil Learning Evening was very well attended, it was good to see so many of you there.
Now is the time to share with you some information and events which are coming up in the future.

Mrs S Freeman
Headteacher

Parking
Can we ask all parents to be considerate of our neighbours both in New Road and Kings Avenue when parking cars. We understand parking is limited, however, please do take care not to park across driveways.
We also need to remind some parents not to drive onto the school lay-by to drop children off in the morning. The lay-by is for the school buses, and in order to avoid any accidents we ask you to drop your children off in Kings Avenue, then they can cross the road with the lollipop lady.

Website
Do look at our website to give you tips on how to help your children research their topics and use the wonderful Literacy, Maths and Science links to consolidate their learning. www.fredagardham.co.uk

Thank you
We would like to say a big thank you to our wonderful Adult Volunteers who come in every week to support our children with their learning. We appreciate their help very much.

Wonderful News

We are very proud to announce that Mrs Stonham and Mrs Turner have worked very hard over the last 41/2 years completing a course in their own time to become our specialist teachers for Dyslexia and Children with Speech & Language Difficulties, which enables them to advise teachers, parent s and pupils about Dyslexia. This has won the school a “Dyslexia Friendly School Award”. We are the first school in the area to achieve this.

Help needed
Do you know anybody who:
1 Would like to support four children with a Gardening Club.
2 Run an embroidery / sewing club with 4 – 6 children.
3 Any members of the W.I. who would like to sew / make some Story Sacks to bring stories alive to children.
4 Help out with our Library cataloguing and covering books for us.
If you do know someone, please let Mrs Turner know via the school office on 01797 222372.

Our new caretaker, Rodney Booth, also needs some help. We have some wonderful new furniture for the playground, however, it is quite heavy. If you know of anyone who would be able to help him, with installing the furniture, (possibly someone in the building trade who may have the appropriate equipment and knowledge), please contact him at the school either before 10.30a.m. or after 3.30p.m. Thank you.

School Photographs
As you know we had Pixels in school on Friday 29th September taking individual / family photographs. If your child was ill on the day, please contact us, and we will arrange a re-sit for individual photographs.

We have now achieved the following awards:
