Christmas in Australia is celebrated during the hottest month of the year. However, Christmas Cards and Christmas traditions are just the same as ours: Christmas trees and homes are decorated with baubles and coloured lights. Traditional carols are sung and many people will have the traditional English styled dinner of turkey and Christmas pudding, whilst others will go down to the beach for a barbecue.

Just like you, Australian children hang up their stockings on Christmas Eve for Santa to put their presents in.

The biggest events of the Christmas season are the "Carols By Candlelight". These are outside concerts held in the warm  evenings. People sit on blankets, light candles, and join together to sing Christmas Carols. Most towns and villages have a concert. To the Australian people, Christmas Eve wouldn't be the same without Carols by Candlelight.
